Description
Alain Blanchard opens bright crimson with lighter spots and a lovely coronet of long golden stamens. It soon deepens to dark crimson with even darker shadings. It tends to flop unless pruned and benefits from a few perennials to lean on. I am charmed by this rose as I am by most of the Gallicas. This is one of the best of the spotted Gallicas. Introduced in 1839.
