Description
A strange rose, to be sure. The color is a blend of deep red with hints of cinnamon, overlaid with an odd greyish purple cast. The photo barely illustrates its magical hues. A strong, upright grower in typical Hybrid Tea style and generous with bloom. I suppose it was a rose before its time because it seems that it has only now found a true home in the hearts of rose collectors. Surely this rose was a harbinger of things to come, with its striking cinnamon and muted rust tones. Smoky is still one of the finest of the so-called brown roses, with beautiful form, good vigor and reliable remontancy. A treasure among the coffee colored roses.
