Yes, this is the rose named for the man who abdicated his office when Adolf Hitler came to power. What better example could be found of the way roses are entwined with history? This is one of my favorites among the earlier Hybrid Teas. I love that its enormous, wonderfully fragrent peony flowered blooms and large, vigorous bush so clearly conjure up its Hybrid Perpetual lineage. Rebloom is excellent. Fragrance is superb.
