This is a very vigorous (15-25’+) and very famous climber, known for its continuous bloom and legendary thorns.Introduced in 1918. 5″ unfading sunny light yellow, elegant single blooms with amber stamens. Best cut in the bud for bouquets. Moderate fragrance. Continuous rebloom. Formidable, downward hooked thorns. Glossy very disease resistant foliage. Prune lightly or not at all. Shade Tolerant. Famously grown on walls in England and apparently can also be grown as a very large shrub to form a barrier hedge. Good, also, as a barrier along fences.
