Description
‘Cabbage Rose’ is often used in a generic way to describe any large flowered, fully petaled antique rose. However, this rose has come down to us as the ‘Great Cabbage of Holland’. There is disagreement as to whether it is from Vibert or is much older. It is a lovely thing and very useful in the garden for its late and prolonged bloom season. It continues to produce buds and blooms into July here when just about every other rose is taking a short, earned rest.
Introduced in 1589.
