Description
For patriot rose growers: this is the American American Beauty by Hoopes and Thomas; not the French American Beauty by Ledechaux which is also sold as Ulrich Brunner Fils. The blooms have a higher center than the Ledechaux. I am becoming quite smitten by this rose which puts on a massive spring display lasting for several weeks. Rather than throwing up distinct climbing canes, it tends to develop as a massive shrub, but with canes that are flexible rather than stiffly upright.
Introduced in 1909.
